If the Irish have succeeded, why can´t we do it?

By: Jack B

In the Swedish daily, Dagens Nyheter, one could read that all Irish in Ireland will be able to speak Irish and that Ireland will have this old Celtic language as the second official language in addition to the English within 20 years. It will also be European Union’s 21 language.

This has been achieved by the will of the Irish people, who are proud to revive their own origin language again and also because that the British has understanding for the Irish people’s demands.

This doesn’t mean in any way that Irish and British will show any hostility against each other because it will benefit the two groups to speak both languages, at least for those who want it.

This will only make these two people come closer and have more respect for each other and work together for a better future for all.

Once has read this article, one can draw parallels with the Aramaic language and the Aramaic civilization.

This was the origin language of the whole Middle East and the language spoken by Jesus until the Arab Muslims seized the power in the region and forced the Aramaic population to give up their language for the Arabic one.

The question here is why shouldn’t the Aramaic people still leaving in this area of the world be able to revive and speak their own language in their home countries like Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Turkey not to say Jordan and Israel as well, as all this territories use to belong to the Aramaic people.

Why shouldn’t the Aramaic language be the official language in additional to the Arabic in for example in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, as the Kurdish has been in Iraq after Saddams fall?

Why can’t the Universities and schools teach this origin language of the area, at least for those who would like as it’s the case for the English and French?

Why should one be stamped an enemy or traitor because he or she asks to learn its own language in his or her native country?

It’s every one’s right to be able to learn what ever language it is or at least his or her origin language no matter were you leave.

Many of the citizens of these countries who have immigrated to Europe in general and Sweden in particular have the right to study their own languages in schools without been subject for any abuse while we can see that this is not the case for the countries they emigrate from.

It is important to mention here that the Aramaic people also called Syriacs leaving in Diaspora have revived their own Aramaic language in very short period of time as they have been given chance by the governments in the countries they are leaving in and they have also adapted to their new home countries and culture. The most important is still that the language is given a chance to be developed in the homeland as language is like water spring , if the spring runs dry so will the small rivers.

To conclude this I would like to ask the governments in the countries were the Arameens origin from to stop see differences in race, religion or culture as a problem or a treat and instead see it as a enrichment for the multicultural society.

They should also understand that they are living in the Arameens native countries and not the opposite.

I would also ask my fellow Arameens/Syriacs to rise from the ash and begin demand their righteous rights like the rest of the people of the world as no one else will do it for them.
